History of Nautica Collection

Founded in 1983 by designer David Chu, Nautica has grown into an American lifestyle brand. This successful apparel and furnishings label started out as a menswear line but then expanded to include women's wear, children's clothing, home goods and furniture.

Nautica's name comes from the latin word Nauticus, which means "ship." The company features a distinctive logo with billowing sails and sea life. Many of their products feature nautical motifs like stripes, oceanic names, and blue colors

The company was sold to New York based apparel company State-O-Main in 1984 who adopted the name Nautica as their corporate identity; hence, Nautica continued to live on. After another acquisition in 2003, and now owned by VF Corporation, they introduced its first fragrance in 1992 which is blue colored with an aquatic and nautical theme.
