Behind DKNY - A Brief History
Born in New York, Donna Karan began her fashion career at Anne Klein before launching her own line of clothes. She also started to design perfumes when she founded the DKNY label in 1987 with the first fragrance being released four years later and now boasting a collection of around 16 different perfumes. DKNYs most recognisable fragrances and gift sets are DKNY Be Delicious eau de parfum, Be Delicious night, fresh blossom and Donna Karen Gold. The newest edition to the range is their Love From New York Eau De Toilette fragrance collection which includes a light floral scent that’ll make every woman feel like they belong in this iconic borough of Manhattan with its soaring skyscrapers or lush gardens.
After designing her first women’s line in 1985, she recognised that there was a need for affordable fashion and launched DNKY, which was inspired by her daughter Gaby. Subsequently, Karan went on to develop DKNY for men and DKNY jeans and in 1992 she released an iconic fragrance collection in collaboration with Estee Lauder. Big player in the industry, LVMH acquired the company in 2000 but perfumes continue to be under the DKNY perfumes and Donna Karan Beauty label.
The recent launch of the DNKY Sport Clothing line has been a huge hit among customers. They have launched their own brand which features faces such as Cara Delevingne and Emily Ratajkowsji on clothes such as shirts, leggings and jackets.
